The facilities at Sudbourne Park offer excellent provision and supervision for the traditional printmaking processes, which include etching, relief printing and lithography.
The workshop in Bothy yard lies in a parkland setting, one mile from Orford on the Suffolk coast. Its position is often used as a resource during schools workshops.
The workshop is very spacious and professionally equipped. There are three rooms, one housing two etching presses, a Kimber press (bed size 48" x 28") and a Haddon press (48" x 22" ), an aquatint box, hot plate, and a large fume extraction unit for etching plates. The middle room is for relief printing and is equipped with two Columbian presses (platen sizes 36" x 22" and 24" x 18") and an Albion press (24" x 18") The end room is a large and well lit design room which doubles up as an exhibition area, and also houses a lithographic press (bed size 34" x 24") and plate processing area.
There is always a stock of materials to hand, including inks, proofing and editioning papers, copper, zinc and steel plates for etching, and wood and lino for relief printing.
